Southern Alps Gutsy Challenge

Join our second Gutsy Challenge for 2019 and trek some of New Zealand's most spectacular peaks.

Led by Professor Tim Price; Chair of the GI Cancer Institute Board, you will ascend two 1800m peaks, explore a remote lake and valley system and admire the splendour of Aoraki Mount Cook and Mount Aspiring.

This Gutsy Challenge provides a unique opportunity to explore 70km of the secluded ridges of New Zealand's mountain range over 7 days. All the while you will be raising much needed funds for vital research into GI Cancers.

All donations from this Gutsy Challenge will help to support the clinical trial research critically needed for those diagnosed with a GI Cancer - with 38 people dying from a GI Cancer everyday, it is the most common form of cancer in Australia.

What we will gain from your support is invaluable, and for that we cannot thank you enough!

Why the GI Cancer Institute?

The GI Cancer Institute saves lives by funding gastro-intestinal (GI) cancer clinical trials research in Australia.

GI Cancers are the most common form of cancer, directly affecting more than 28,900 Australians each year and claiming a devastating 38 lives a day.

The research that we fund enables Australians with GI cancer to receive the best medical treatment. By conducting research in Australia, our cancer patients receive new treatments three to five years earlier than if the research was to take place overseas.

Our clinical trials allow us to find better ways to treat GI cancers.
